As a child of Porirua, and growing up in a Tongan-Samoan family, Gagau is determined to help realize the potential of the Porirua community to achieve their dreams and aspirations through sports, education, great facilities and the arts.

Her mother Elaine Uluave - Annandale, a Pacific pioneer in community wellbeing and social development, was the first Pacific person to be voted in as a member of the Porirua City Council many decades ago. She was lauded for her “duty of care” as well as her passionate and lifelong commitment to Porirua.

Gagau too wants to walk in her mother’s footsteps – as her “duty of care and service to Porirua”.
